from: What Is The Plasma In Plasma TVs?

As the electronics industry has moved from CRT (cathode ray technology) televisions to the new plasma technology, weave all watched as our television pictures became clearer and crisper.

Even though plasma technology isn’t all that new, the application of it in our televisions sets is. We all understand how a plain picture tube works in a television set.

What exactly is this plasma stuff?

Quoted, “an electrically neutral, highly ionized substance composed of ions, electrons, and neutral particles. Plasma contains almost equal numbers of free electrons and positive ions. In plasma the electrons have been stripped away from the central nucleus. Therefore, plasma consists of a sea of ions and electrons and is a very good conductor of electricity and is affected by magnetic fields. Electrons are separated from their respective nucleus when enough heat is applied.”

Plasma is formed when two gases, neon and xenon, are electrified and the resulting phosphors (a substance that can emit light after being radiated in some way) begin to glow.

You don’t need to be a science teacher to understand how all of it works, but plasma is showing up in more than just our television sets.

It was used in computer displays in the 1960’s and is used today in waste treatment, welding and drilling, propulsion, lasers, and instrument sterilization in medical offices and hospitals. Moreover, recent studies link it to treat bleeding disorders, wound healing and respiratory problems.

It is because plasmas are conductive and respond to electric and magnetic fields and can be efficient sources of radiation, they are usable in numerous applications where such control is needed or when special sources of energy or radiation are required.

The average person, though, will recognize the technology in their television sets. The Plasma TV.

As plasma televisions continue to advance, you can guarantee the use of it in other applications will continue well.

Before long, plasma technology may become one of the most widely used applications around the world for numerous things. And recently in Japan, the plasma technology is being used to display 3d images on the air. The new device uses the plasma emission phenomenon near the focal point of focused laser light. By controlling the position of the focal point in the direction of the x-, y-, and z-axes, real 3D-images in air (3D-space) can be displayed.

Plasma, used in your television sets made it possible to make you favorite movie more realistic and let you travel in their world through imagination.
